Wow! Only 25 days until I depart for Liverpool! At this point in my preparation, I have almost everything ready to go; I only have to pack and say my goodbyes. Some things I have been been doing to prepare for this adventure include:
1). Applying for a credit card...and being denied...
...mostly because I do not have any assets (Car, house, etc.)
I searched online for credit cards without foreign transaction fees to limit my cost for the semester. Although I could not be a primary cardholder, I now share a travel credit card with my mother...thanks mom!
2). Watching lots of travel videos on YouTube
I plan on visiting a lot of Europe in my free time while in Liverpool. YouTube assisted me in creating a list of MANY places I want to visit...now there are TOO many and I'm forced to pick favorites...
3). Placing a Money Order for Foreign Currency
Since England uses the Pound Sterling, I figured it would be beneficial to have some currency handy in case of emergencies or a good laugh when I try to actually figure out which currency is which...
4). Researching the immediate location i will be living in
Because I NEED to know where the closest supermarket is for some good old fashioned SNACKS...and you know...McDonalds...
I can successfully conclude there is a McDonald's 0.6 miles away from my residential hall.
I mean...0.96 kilometers....
5). Learning
From learning a little bit of different European languages to simply finding out the quirks and customs of the Brits, I have acquired a better knowledge of Europe's culture. I cannot wait to continue this crazy educational experience when I touch down in the UK, I am positive I will gain a lot from it.
